Selected reviews of MycoKey 2.1/2.5

. . . The photographs are superb, showing all aspects of the fungus . . .

. . . A very comprehensive help system is available at all times as well as simple tutorials which make the key very easy to learn. Whether used to identify mystery fungi, as a computer-based photographic encyclopedia, as a literature search engine or a combination of all three this product is a delight to use and an essential reference tool for any mycologist. I thoroughly recommend it to beginners and experts alike . . .

Geoffery Kibbey, The Field Mycologist

. . . What a delight this interactive computer program is! . . .

. . . I found it particularly exciting to discover coverage of many discomycetes with tiny apothecia, certainly a rarity in floristic treatments . . .

. . . Given that the coverage is that of northern Europe, one cannot expect to find any treatment of genera known only from extra-European areas, but this should not deter one from using this amazing source for attempting to identify discomycetes and basidiomycetes from any region in the world . . .

. . . In summary, this is an outstanding work to which all mycology teachers should provide access for their students . . .

Richard P. Korf, Mycotaxon

For me MycoKey is not only a convenient tool for identification of genera but also a valuable mycological encyclopedia with the huge amount of excellent and correctly identified photographs. Numerous pictures show rare or never before illustrated taxa. Further, the incredible amount of references makes it especially useful for further study of genera or species.

I want to recommend MycoKey highly for students, teachers, professional and amateur mycologists and simply for everybody interested in disco- and hymenomycetes.

Irmgard Krisai-Greilhuber, Österreischische Zeitschrift für Pilzkunde

. . . this is a very valuable addition to the library of field mycologists . . .

Walter Gams, Nova Hedwigia

When one uses only exact characters, generic identification works rather easily and precisely . . .

. . . if the identification results raise doubts, one can easily and clearly compare (among two genera) or analyze (among more genera) . . .

. . . MycoKey 2.1 is a user-friendly programme, which I can recommend to all mycologists working on macromycetes . . .
