MycoKey : the species Montagnea arenaria

Generic short diagnoses: Coprinoid, secotioid agaric with a tough, woody stipe, a basal volva, and black spores with distinct germ pores. Looks like a rotten Coprinus. Only marginally present in northern Europe.
