Generic short diagnoses: Small to medium-sized, ± flat-topped puffball with well developed, poroid subgleba, separated from gleba by a skin-like layer (diaphragm), opens irregularly; capillitium of Lycoperdon-type but sparse and paracapillitium, instead, abundant.
